James Nachtwey

After watching the video clip of James Nachtwey, it inspired me to start taking compelling photographs that have meaning. James Nachtwey is a war photographer that documents the reality of such unfortunate times. The video showed him discussing his photographs and his thoughts about the settings of each one. He said that even though the photographs are in different places and of different people, they all have the same meaning. This meaning is the hardships of warfare and the hope that comes with it as well. He's traveled all around the world to catch the emotions and the truth behind every story. He's been to Rwanda, Yugoslavia, Central America, Iraq, and the U.S.  to capture moments in time. Although some of his photos are repulsive, they are truthful. Some of his photography has inspired people to donate and help out internationally. James Nachtwey uses photography as a medium to inspire people and deal with the pain that is happening around the world. I have learned that a picture is worth a 1000 words and that it is a wonderful primary source when it comes to journalism.
